I agree, he supposedly bought the equipment but someone else brewed it. Thus, he is not the brewer. Nothing wrong with extract, even the POTUS has to start somewhere.
Agree on the extract point, and agree that there is nothing wrong with the recipes. One of the WH chefs, who is a homebrewer, was the primary brewer, though a bunch of first-timer WH chefs appear to also be involved...
I just found it amusing that the media was swooning that he's the 'homebrewer in chief' and that he somehow crafted the recipes. Several of the articles and stories incorrectly state that. Regardless, it's good press for homebrewing...
